The remaining four contestants upped their game this time around to secure their spots in the next round. I think many of the performances were a major improvement from last week. Wayne Brady, aka Mr. TV, was the guest judge this week. I thought he had some good insight. I can’t believe the judges didn’t guess him though when he was performing. His voice is so distinct and noticeable. But I digress. Let’s get to the contestants’ performances:
Song: “If I Could Turn Back Time” by Cher
Thoughts: This performance was so good! I was surprised at how good they were compared to last week. Most of the song he performed last week was in a falsetto, but this week’s song really showed his vocal range.
My Guess: A lot of the clues were pointing towards Mean Girls, including North Spore High School, the cafeteria where someone said, “you can’t sit with us”, and the Christmas talent show. I’m not sure if Jonathan Bennett (Aaron Samuels) or Daniel Franzese (Damien) can sing, but I’m leaning towards either of these two.
Judges’ Guesses: Ken said this is Donald Glover, Nicole said that this is Adam Lambert and Wayne said that this is Jaden Smith. I don’t think it’s any of these people.
Song: “Hello” by Lionel Richie
Thoughts: This performance was so much better than last week, but nothing special. I’d be surprised if he made it past the Group C Finals.
My Guess: There was a clue with “FoodFellas” and him having dinner with the Big Cheesy. I wonder if this is someone that could have been in GoodFellas, like a Ray Liotta or Joe Pesci. However, the roulette clue pointed me in another direction, like a Wayne Newton. Either way, the voice sounds so familiar.
Judges’ Guesses: Nicole said this is Wayne Newton, which I agree with and now think this is him. Ken said Martin Short and Jenny said Jason Alexander. I don’t think it’s Martin Short or Jason Alexander. The Broccoli is tall and Martin Short and Jason Alexander are not very tall.
Song: “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by Rolling Stones
Thoughts: The performance was just okay. Nothing to write home about.
My Guess: I think that this person is a comedian and someone that is older. He said that laughter is the best medicine after he was bullied for being different. He also had a bear that “came out of the lamp”. I couldn’t put my finger on it.
Judges’ Guesses: Jenny said that this is Ted Danson, Robin said David Hasselhoff, and Ken said this is Al Gore. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the only guess that does make sense to me is Al Gore. I have no idea whether he would do the show.
Song: “Crazy” by Patsy Cline
Thoughts: This performance was much better than last week. She mentioned that she wasn’t as nervous this week and she didn’t disappoint.
My Guess: I think that this person is part of a show business family, considering that she mentioned in the clue package that she is family oriented and that her father would take her to gigs and be her biggest cheerleader. I think this is someone like a Sofia or Nicole Richie or Zoe Kravitz. I’m leaning towards Sofia or Nicole Richie since I think Zoe Kravitz is too busy with movies.
Judges’ Guesses: Robin said Sofia Richie, Ken said Lana Kandor, and Wayne said Hailee Bailey. I agree with Robin only.
The eliminations loomed upon us and the Squiggly Monster was the next to go. I wasn’t surprised that he was eliminated since I thought it would be between him and Broccoli. The first impression guesses never disappoint. Jenny and Robin said that this is Bob Saget and they stuck with their answer. Ken said that this is Fabio, but he changed his guess to Bob Saget. Nicole had one of the best first impression guesses, saying that this is one of the Ying Yang Twins. She changed her answer to Gary Cole.
Squiggly Monster revealed himself after the judges’ guesses and it was in fact Bob Saget. Again, I’m mad at myself for not guessing him considering that the clues were so obviously pointing towards him (Teddy Bear for Ted Mosby, which he narrated on How I Met Your Mother, the America’s Funniest Home Videos reference).
Next week will see the reappearance of Group A. This group is so talented that it will be disappointing to see someone be eliminated. I think the Snow Owls will be taking a permanent Snow Day and be eliminated, but the voters will speak for themselves.
